Kamala Harris ‘glad’ to debate Donald Trump in September
Donald Trump has proposed two additional debate dates, which Kamala Harris says she is happy to discuss further.
Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump and Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris will debate on Sept. 10 on ABC, setting up the first face-to-face matchup in what polls show is a close race.
“ABC News will host qualifying presidential candidates to debate on September 10 on ABC. Vice President Harris and former President Trump have both confirmed they will attend the ABC debate,” the network said in a statement on Thursday.
So, who will moderate the presidential match-up on the big stage next month?
ABC’s David Muir and Linsey Davis
David Muir and Linsey Davis will moderate the Sept. 10 debate, according to ABC. That’s the same date that Trump and Joe Biden had agreed to their second and final debate, before the president’s decision to drop out of the race.
Muir is the host of “World News Tonight” and he’s been with ABC since 2003. Known on both sides of the political aisle, he interviewed Biden as a part of D-Day coverage and was Trump’s first White House interview as president in 2017. He’s no stranger to debates either, having moderated presidential primary debates in 2016 and 2020.
Davis is the anchor on “ABC News Live Prime” and has been with the network since 2007. She’s moderated presidential debates in 2019 and 2020 and has covered the Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention.
Details on location and rules will be determined closer to the debate date.
