Long Beach Police Investigating Shooting Involving U.S. Marshals

U.S. marshals exchanged gunfire with a suspect in Long Beach Thursday, but no injuries were reported.

Long Beach police responded at about 12:50 p.m. to the area of 12th Street and Cedar Avenue to assist marshals following the shooting, according to the department.

Police said a male suspect shot at members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force who were operating in the area. The marshals returned fire, but no one was struck.

The suspect was detained and taken to a hospital for an unspecified injury unrelated to the shooting, and he will be booked following treatment, police said.

The LBPD was not involved in the shooting, but was assisting the investigation.

No further details were immediately released.
