SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Crab can be pretty pricy so you typically don’t expect to find it in a a vending machine, especially not an alive crab.
But it just so happens that a live crab was in a second-floor vending machine at the Frances Building in Downtown Sioux City. Soso Mesa, who works for Pepsi, sent us the photo below showing the crab in the vending machine.
Mesa says on Thursday, Aug. 1, several people were trying to get snacks from the vending machine but something was snapping at them. According to Mesa, people thought there was a mouse in the machine.
Maintenance for the Frances Building called Pepsi about what was happening, so Mesa was sent out to check the machine. When he got there, he found out it was a crab snapping at people.
By the time Mesa got to the machine Friday morning, the crab was dead. Mesa says he took the crab’s body out of the machine and disposed of it.
Now, strangely enough, another crab was found in the Sioux City Public Library earlier this week. The library and Frances Building are right next to each other downtown and are connected by a skywalk.
The Chesapeake blue crab at the library was found in the computer lab. This crab also ended up passing away.
