Sid Vicious’ son reveals dad’s health scares after WWE legend’s death

Sid Vicious’ son has revealed more about the health battles his dad, whose real name was Sid Eudy, dealt with before the WWE legend’s passing at the age of 63, which was announced Monday.

Gunnar Eudy posted on Facebook Tuesday morning that his dad was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in April 2021, five years after he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

“Although he never told anyone about his fight against cancer, Sid lived his life to the fullest, attending the gym, boxing classes, making appearances for his fans, and of course t-ball games for the kids,” Gunnar wrote. “He passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. I’ve never met anyone with a fraction of the strength as my father he truly was one of a kind.

“Thanks everyone for the uplifting words and love we definitely feel it we have received thousands of messages and are grateful for everyone of them. I don’t have time to reply but I have read them all thank you thank you thank you!”

Sid Vicious, who also went by Sid Justice and Sycho Sid, starred for the then-named WWF and WCW in the 1990s, winning each company’s world championship twice, and was a member of Ric Flair’s famed Four Horsemen faction.

He wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 8, losing to Hulk Hogan, and WrestleMania 13, dropping the world title to The Undertaker.

One of Eudy’s signature moments came in the main event of Survivor Series 1996 at Madison Square Garden, when he defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWF title, pleasing a crowd that was squarely behind him despite his status as a villain at the time.

“Saddened to learn of the passing of Sid Eudy,” Michaels wrote on X Monday. “An unforgettable presence, and it can’t be overstated how big of a role he played in creating ‘The Heartbreak Kid.’ His work, legacy, and influence will inspire our business for generations to come.”

WWE’s chief content officer, former wrestling star Triple H, also paid tribute to Eudy on X.

“The Master and Ruler of the World. Few performers in the history of our business have had the look, intensity and ability to connect with the audience quite like Sid,” he wrote. “My thoughts are with Sid’s family, friends and fans.”
