Father starts fundraiser for 2-year-old killed by accused drunk driver in Fort Worth

The father of a toddler killed in a car crash on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth is looking to raise funds to lay her to rest.

Amiyah Lashae Rose Fisher, 2, was one of five people killed Monday when a suspected drunk driver, 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez, rear-ended the victims’ sedan near the East Seminary Drive exit, causing it to catch fire.

“We are all devastated by the loss of Amiyah Lashae Rose Fisher and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service,” said the child’s father, Eddie Fisher, in the GoFundMe he organized. “We want to give Amiyah the memorial she deserves, to honor her beautiful memory and say our last goodbyes.”

The GoFundMe aims to raise $5,000.

Willie Gunn and his girlfriend, Amber Hopewell — the 2-year-old’s mother — were identified by family as the two adults killed in the crash. Hopewell’s two other children — ages 4 and 9 — were also killed.

Gonzalez, who was driving a Chevrolet Camaro, is being held at the Tarrant County Jail on five counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, according to Fort Worth police.

He was arrested at the scene. Police said they found alcohol containers inside Gonzalez’s vehicle and that he showed signs of intoxication.

Gonzalez was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit the victims’ vehicle, investigators said.

Gunn’s family members also created a GoFundMe to go toward his funeral costs, but want answers surrounding his death.

Gunn made a living as a DoorDash driver, his niece Jacresia Gunn told the Star-Telegram. That’s what her uncle was doing when the five were hit by Gonzalez’s vehicle.

The most difficult part for Willie Gunn’s family is that no one has reached out to them about his death, according to Jacresia Gunn. They’ve had to initiate all the phone calls, his niece said. They are currently trying to contact a detective assigned to the case and have made efforts to reach out, including phone calls and messages, but haven’t heard back, she said.

Willie Gunn’s family is demanding law enforcement hold Gonzalez accountable and to see police reports.

“They didn’t even get a chance to live their lives,” Jacresia Gunn said of Hopewell’s three children.

Out of the $5,000 goal, $815 had been raised as Thursday.
