Five Times Prince Louis Stole the Show

Since his birth in 2018, Prince Louis has become a royal fan favorite at public events and ceremonies, whether it be on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour or at Westminster Abbey for a Christmas carol concert.

Affectionately known as the royal family’s cheekiest member, Louis has won hearts around Britain and the world with his scene-stealing antics and gestures, providing a lighthearted foil to the strict traditions of the monarchy.

Here, Newsweek looks at five adorable moments Prince Louis stole the show.

Balcony Blues

One of Louis’ most memorable appearances was made during the special Platinum Jubilee Trooping the Colour celebrations in 2022, marking Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne.

The young prince appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside his great-grandmother and other senior members of the royal family.

When the aerial flypast of military aircraft flew overhead in salute to the monarch, all eyes turned to Louis who broke his chat with the queen to cover his ears against the roar of the engines.

Another of Louis’ cheekiest moments occurred during the Platinum Jubilee pageant staged outside Buckingham Palace in June 2022.

During the three-hour ceremony, Louis was spotted restlessly speaking with his mother, Princess Kate, before covering her mouth with his hand to silence her. The moment sparked a parenting debate online but was generally met with good humor.

Addressing their son’s antics, William and Kate posted a special message on social media thanking everyone for participating in the jubilee celebrations.

“We all had an incredible time,” they wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Especially Louis…”

In September 2022, Louis passed a developmental milestone marking his first day at school.

Together with his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Louis attended an introductory afternoon at Lambrook School near the Wales family home in Windsor. Following royal tradition, a press photographer was allowed to capture images marking the occasion.

Louis took center stage in the photos, standing between his proud parents.

In 2023, Trooping the Colour saw another classic Prince Louis moment, where the young prince adorably offered a personal salute to the military personnel outside Buckingham Palace taking part in the parade celebrating his grandfather, King Charles’ official birthday.

Little Brother Moment

In December 2023, Louis made his first appearance at Princess Kate’s annual Christmas carol concert held at Westminster Abbey in London.

As part of the service, small candles were handed to the congregation and lit as the abbey lights were dimmed. Photographs showed the eager Louis blowing out his candle during the service and cheekily doing the favor for his sister, Princess Charlotte, too.
