HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Coach Tyson Thomas announced the signing of Corinna Rietmann to a National Letter of Intent, and she will join the program in the 2024-25 academic year.
Rietmann, a native of Berlin, Germany, is a six-time regional champion and competed in the Ostliga, Bundesliga and Regionalliga Nordost in her home country.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Corinna to our team,” Thomas said. “Her values, ambitions and work ethic align perfectly with our program, and we are confident she’ll have an immediate and lasting impact here at JMU.”

- Competes for SCC Berlin, where she’s won six regional championships in U18
- Plays the No. 1 position in Ostliga (East League
- Has captured singles and doubles victories at the No. 2 spot in Bundesliga
- Helped her team to a championship in the Regionalliga Nordost (Regional League Northeast), the highest winter league in Germany
- Ranked #113 in Germany’s women’s rankings and #11 in age group
- Was doubles runner-up at the 2022 U16 German Championships
- Won several youth and women’s tournaments in Germany
Rietman is the first women’s tennis student-athlete to sign on for the 2024-25 season, and the class will continue to develop in the spring semester.
