Not much change at the top, but plenty of movement in and out of the bottom half of our AP Top 25 ballot this week.

We considered Providence, Dayton, Michigan, Kansas State, even Vermont. But we’re sticking to our personal rule of not bringing a new team into the rankings that lost at least once that week.

Here’s David Borges’ AP Top 25 ballot:

  1. Purdue: Fascinating Maui Invitational battle on Monday vs. Gonzaga, a very similar program.
  2. Marquette: Golden Eagles remain the last team to have beaten UConn.
  3. Kansas: Jayhawks will be tested in Maui.
  4. UConn: Twenty-one straight double-digit non-conference wins really is remarkable.
  5. Arizona: Kylan Boswell can play on my team.
  6. Duke: Jon Scheyer can recruit, but still has a lot to prove as a coach.
  7. Creighton: Starting to feel like Bluejays (or Marquette) could be UConn’s toughest foe this season.
  8. Texas A&M: We’re thinking Aggies are a dark horse Final Four team.
  9. Tennessee: Will Rick Barnes ever overachieve in NCAA tourney?
  10. Houston: Decisive Charleston Classic championship win this weekend.
  11. Baylor: Former UConn target Yves Missi looking good as frosh center for Bears.
  12. Gonzaga: Big effort in Maui could vault Zags up rankings in time for Dec. 15 bout with UConn.
  13. Miami: ‘Canes now 5-0 after winning Baha Mar Hoops title.
  14. James Madison: Football, basketball programs both ranked.
  15. North Carolina: We’ll see what Armando Bacot can do against UConn on Dec. 5.
  16. Mississippi State: Chris Jans has no mercy on Hurleys (Dan in 2022, Bobby a couple of weeks ago)
  17. Michigan State: The national media’s love for Tom Izzo knows no bounds.
  18. Texas: Narrow win over lowly Louisville, now UConn Monday night at MSG.
  19. Illinois: Couldn’t stop Tyler Kolek in home loss to Marquette on Tuesday.
  20. Memphis: Unpopular take: Penny Hardaway is a pretty good coach.
  21. Florida Atlantic: We’re being nice keeping Owls ranked after home loss to … Bryant?
  22. Alabama: Averaging 101.8 points per game, but hasn’t beaten anyone yet.
  23. Colorado: Already just one win shy of Coach Prime’s football team.
  24. Princeton: Three straight road wins and a win over Rutgers in Trenton? Yup, we’ll rank you.
  25. Kentucky: Wildcats were able to contain Jackson Benigni on Friday night.
