Another 27 eye drop products are being pulled

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalled another batch of eye drops just weeks after it warned consumers about over two dozen eye drop products.

On Wednesday, FDA announced that 27 products from brands including CVS Health, Leader (Cardinal Health), Rugby (Cardinal Health), Rite Aid, Target’s Up & Up, Velocity Pharma, and Walmart were being recalled due to potential safety concerns “after FDA investigators found insanitary conditions.”

The products are being voluntarily recalled by manufacturing company Kilitch Healthcare India Limited. The recalled products include all lot numbers and have expiration dates between November 2023 to September 2025.

The FDA said the manufacturer will inform its distributor Velocity Pharma LLC who will inform retailers and wholesalers about the voluntary recall and coordinate returning impacted products.

What should you do as a consumer if you have used these products?

Users of these eyedrops, which are meant to be sterile, had “a potential risk of eye infections or related harm,” but so far the manufacturing company has not received any “reports of adverse events related to this recall,” the FDA said.

The FDA is advising any consumer who may have these products to stop using them.

People who have signs or symptoms of an eye infection after using these products should talk to their health care provider or seek medical care immediately, the FDA says.

The FDA also recommends consumers properly discard these products.
