JOSH LIPTON: And here’s what to watch on Thursday. Apple earnings are the big ticket item of the day, reporting after the bell after what has been a mixed bag of results so far from US tech giants. The company’s iPhone competition in China will give investors a glimpse into global consumer spending, in addition to insight around Apple’s services business. Earnings will come just days after CEO Tim Cook unveiled its latest MacBook Pro lineup, which bulls hope will boost softening demand.
We’ll also get earnings from Eli Lilly tomorrow, which comes as the stock has more than tripled in the last three years following the success and popularity of its weight loss and diabetes drug, Mounjaro. Investors will also want to hear more about how it is being developed and tested for use by children and the impact of how knockoff products are affecting sales.
And we’ll also hear from Paramount, the second of the big streaming companies following Netflix, which recorded a strong third quarter and announced it will raise prices. On the economic side, we’re going to get initial jobless claims in the morning ahead, of course, with the big jobs report on Friday. And finally, tonight, right here at 6:00 PM Eastern, Yahoo Finance executive director Brian Sozzi is sitting down with JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon. So stay tuned for that.
