Authorities investigating overnight shooting in Brockton that killed a 27-year-old man

Authorities in Brockton are investigating an overnight shooting that killed a 27-year-old man.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office, Brockton police received a call for reports of a man shot inside a home around 2:17 a.m. on Hoover Avenue.

Upon arrival, first responders located a male who had been shot in the chest.

“It was like 1am, it was like really loud, people were yelling and cursing,” said Madina Dansoko, neighbor. “They usually yell a lot so I guess I wasn’t stressed it’s just normal kind of.”

“It’s very surprising and I woke up at 3 and saw a couple of cars there and it was shocking,” said Nina, a neighbor.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Sederick Abreau was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Derrick Cornell lives a few houses down and said he knew his neighbor but not well.

I mean it is Brockton,” said Cornell, “Just from waving hi and by driving by. I don’t really know them like that.”

Sunday, investigators sat outside the home, at one point assisting an older man with a wheelchair out to a car.

Nina said she was surprised to learn someone was killed.

My daughter went to high school with some of the kids there,” she said.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time and according to the DA, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
