LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Clark County is gearing up for its first-ever Día de Reyes celebration, also known as Three Kings Day.
The holiday, observed in many Latin American countries, commemorates the visit of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus and marks the end of the Christmas season.
According to Clark County, this is the first time an official celebration of this significance for the Spanish-speaking community has occurred.
The celebration, hosted in partnership with the Mexican Consulate, will feature an array of family activities, including music and a special appearance by the Three Wise Men, with surprises for the little ones.
An unveiling of a colossal Rosca de Reyes (King’s Cake), a sweet and symbolic bread shaped in an oval to represent the unity of the community, will be sliced and shared among attendees, following the cherished tradition of finding hidden figurines, muñequitos, within the bread.
The event will also feature a Resource Fair, allowing attendees to connect with health education resources, educational opportunities, information about local food assistance programs, and more.
In addition to the Resource Fair, families and children will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from the Las Vegas Raiders, the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee, which will be bringing the coveted ‘Super Ball’ trophy for photo opportunities.
The free event will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Clark County Government Center located at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
