Dave East Appears In Skit Celebrating The 30th Anniversary of ‘New York Undercover’ | News

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the hit crime drama New York Undercover, rapper/actor Dave East paid homage to the iconic show in a skit with original cast members.

On Instagram, Thursday (April 25), East posted a clip of the show NYU with stars Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo and basketball shooting expert Lethal Shooter.

“We’ve been looking for this guy for over three years, Dave East is a real one for not snitching on skills coach Lethal Shooter. $5,000,000 in gym fees owed to the city of New York!!! We finally got him!!!” the caption read.

“Happy 30th Anniversary to New York Undercover, it’s a must we give flowers to living legends. [clapping emojis] #NewYorkUnderCover,” the post continued.

In its original run on Fox from 1994 to 1999, New York Undercover followed the journey of two undercover detectives, J.C. Williams (Yoba) and Eddie Torres (DeLorenzo), and their quest to bring justice to the streets while balancing their complicated personal lives. A groundbreaking show,  it was one of the first dramas to star people of color in all the principal roles with storylines that shed light on racism, sexism, drug addiction,  and single parenting.

The show, executive produced by Andre Harrell, was regarded highly for the live performances by some of the biggest stars of the day showcasing classic songs.

Appearing on an episode of “Tamron Hall” on Monday (April 29) Yoba, DeLorenzo, and Luna Lauren Velez, who played policewoman Nina Moreno shared that the cast will be touring across the country to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, PEOPLE reports.

“We’re here not just to talk about the 30th anniversary, but how we can bring this moment forward,” Yoba, 56, explains. “Audiences has never had a chance to have this experience with us so we intend to go on the road as [a] cast.”

“We’re going to hit markets across America. We’re working with artists that have performed on the show,” Yoba continued.
