Jarrod Bowen is looking to torment Manchester United on Saturday with the English forward having scored 10 Premier League goals this season – more than Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford combined.

West Ham manager David Moyes says he hopes Bowen, 27, will stay at the club for the rest of his career, having recently signed a new seven-year contract extension.

Jurgen Klopp’s admittance that Bowen is one of his ‘favourite’ players outside of Liverpool, whom he scored against in the Carabao Cup in midweek, sparked concerns about him being a future transfer target.

But Moyes said ahead of facing his former club United: ‘He has signed a seven-year contract so he will be as old as me by the time he finishes that. He has done really well.

‘You want to find players you can bring through the lower leagues and turn them into England internationals, like some of my Everton boys like (Phil) Jagielka and (Leighton) Baines, getting 30, 40, 50 caps for England. I hope we can do the same with Jarrod.

‘He has already made it and I still think he is trying to catch up to the levels of the forwards. You mention (Bukayo) Saka, Grealish, he is scoring more than them but let’s be fair, they are phenomenal and have been doing great for their clubs over the years.’

Bowen is set to lead the line with Lucas Paqueta on his left and Mohammed Kudus on his right, though Moyes feels his forward line is fluid enough to change mid-match.

‘We are not quite giving him the No 9 tag but we are still saying we could play him wide or through the middle at different times in the games to ease the pressure on him,’ Moyes said.

‘His last two goals have come from him coming off the sides. He is doing such a good job with his goalscoring. He wants goals and looks like scoring. I hope he can keep scoring as it will keep him around the England squad for the Euros.’
