Deadpool & Wolverine new fan art welcomes the titular superheroes’ female variants into the MCU. This artwork comes as rumors about their potential appearances in upcoming film intensify. The creative art comes ahead of the highly-anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine as a part of the MCU’s Phase 5.
The new artwork, courtesy of arifinity_, features X-23 and Lady Deadpool donned in striking, comic-accurate costumes. This creative choice depicts the significant development for Jackman’s Wolverine, who will be seen in his iconic yellow-and-blue suit for the first time in the MCU. Meanwhile, the portrayal of an older X-23 signals a fresh narrative direction since her younger version, played by Dafne Keen, was last seen in 2017’s Logan.
The addition of Lady Deadpool and X-23 in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine could bring a fresh perspective into the film. As MCU heads into Phase 5, the film presents an opportunity for the female superheroes, who have been fan favorites in the comics, to get screen time.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set against the backdrop of the Time Variance Authority’s mission that sends the titular characters hopping across various timelines. This multiverse setting is ripe for introducing different versions of well-known characters, making the potential debut of Lady Deadpool and X-23 not just possible, but a seamless fit.
X-23, or Laura, was brilliantly portrayed by Keen in 2017’s Logan. Although Deadpool & Wolverine is presumably set before the events of Logan, this does not preclude Keen from returning as a variant of X-23. The multiverse concept allows for numerous possibilities, including different ages or iterations of the same character, which could mean seeing an older, more seasoned version of X-23. Alternatively, the role could be recast to fit this new narrative.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s Emma Corrin Talks the Need for More Inclusive Spaces in Awards
Emma Corrin, who will portray Cassandra Nova in the film, recently expressed a profound sense of affirmation from being nominated in a non-gendered performer category at the Independent Spirit Awards.
“I have a lot of thoughts on that, and it’s a difficult question. I always get quite scared of answering it, because it is such a huge question, and it sort of requires multiple answers. I think it’s undoubtable that there is more work to do. It was incredible and it felt really affirming to be at the Independent Spirit Awards and to be nominated in a [non-gendered] performer category.”
Corrin emphasized the importance of these inclusive spaces that validate their identity without compromise.
“It was amazing. You feel seen. You feel like someone’s creating space for you to be recognized for your work. Which, say what you will about the awards system, but it’s a really lovely thing to be recognized, undoubtedly. So, to be able to do that in a space that doesn’t compromise you in any way, and your identity, is a really great thing.”
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to premiere on July 26, 2024.
