No more hocus pocus: Dua Lipa’s psychedelia-inspired track “Houdini” is out now, with production from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle. Stream it below.

In a statement, Dua Lipa said “Houdini” “embodies that 4 a.m. feeling when the night is coming to a close and you’re a bit sweaty, but you just don’t want the party to end.”

“This track represents the most light and freeing parts of my singledom,” she added. “‘Houdini’ is very tongue in cheek, exploring the idea of whether someone is really worth my while or if I’ll ghost them in the end. You never know where something may take you, that’s the beauty of being open to whatever life throws your way. Im looking forward to sharing that feeling of defiant bliss with my fans.”

Rumors began circulating earlier this year that Lipa would be working with Parker, whom she’s cited as her “dream collaborator.” The pop star first began rolling out the release of “Houdini” with a pair of teasers posted to her Instagram last month. She was then spotted on Tuesday (November 7th) in London, England providing an exclusive first listen to “Houdini,” amusingly poking her head out from behind a cut-out newspaper and a banner reading: “Congratulations, you are the first person to hear Dua Lipa’s brand new song.”

To celebrate the release of “Houdini,” Lipa announced three surprise launch events for her fans. The first one was slated for this week in London, with subsequent launches in Los Angeles on November 14th and Tokyo on November 20th.

Lipa made her big-screen debut in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie earlier this year, also contributing to the film’s soundtrack with “Dance the Night,” which we named Song of the Week. Her last album, Future Nostalgia, was released in 2020.
