Ed release date and Fighting Pass announced for Street Fighter 6 in new trailer

Like we guessed just last night, Street Fighter 6 is about to gear up for the launch of their next DLC character in Ed.

Capcom announced tonight the new Ed Arrives Fighting Pass for SF6 with a new trailer showing off the items coming to the game along with an apparent makeover for the Battle Hub — plus the fighter’s actual release date.

We don’t get to see any gameplay for Ed in the trailer, but they do show quite a bit of the new avatar gear in the pass with one combining his Street Fighter 5 white hoodie with a similar looking jacket to his school costume along with boxing gear styled similarly to his old default design.

On top of that, Captain Commando will be the arcade game given out in the premium rewards along with the SF5 themes for Ed, Falke and Balrog, a photo frame, wallpaper, titles, emote and stickers.

The new Fighting Pass is scheduled to drop on February 1, and it appears the update will also be changing up the looks of the Battle Hub quite a bit for the next month too.

SF6’s big lobby is getting a dark theme in the lead up to Capcom Cup X with branding everywhere that’ll also apparently change the ring stage and bring in a collab shop, in-game tournaments and victory predictions for the festivities.

Although it’s not mentioned in the video itself, Capcom also confirmed Ed will release on February 27 right after Capcom Cup.

They obviously haven’t confirmed anything, but this also makes it fairly likely that Ed will be playable at the Capcom Cup event early for attendees and participants.

Capcom already showed Ed’s World Tour introduction in his teaser trailer earlier this month, so we’ll likely be seeing his actual gameplay and character guide videos in the coming weeks leading up to the finals — unless they want to save all of that for Capcom Cup itself.

The big question remains as to what Ed’s gameplay will actually be like in SF6, however, since his SF5 control scheme is very similar to what became Modern controls in the new game, so you’d think he’d have more traditional motions this time around — but we’ll have to continuing waiting to see.

Capcom Cup is scheduled to run from Feb. 16–25, and you can check out the new trailer below.
