George Clooney Says There’s ‘Not Enough Drugs in the World’ to Get Him to Play Batman Again, Even After ‘The Flash’ Cameo

George Clooney turned up as Bruce Wayne in the final moments of “The Flash,” but in no way does that mean he’s interested in playing Batman again. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight while promoting his latest directorial effort “The Boys in the Boat,” Clooney said the chances of him playing Batman again are less than slim to none.

“I do not think there’s enough drugs in the world for me to go back,” Clooney said bluntly.

So why did he decide to return as Bruce Wayne in “The Flash” anyway? “I thought there was such a clamor for me to come back as Batman, as you know. There was a clamor,” Clooney sarcastically wisecracked. “I actually said, ‘Where are my rubber nipples?’ And they were like, ‘Can we do it without the rubber nipples?’ I was like, ‘Well, it’s not really my Batman, is it?’”

Clooney starred as the iconic superhero in the infamous 1997 sequel “Batman & Robin,” which he has openly mocked over the years. The actor famously once said in an interview, “It was a difficult film to be good in. With hindsight it’s easy to look back at this and go, ‘Woah, that was really shit and I was really bad in it.’”

In a Variety interview back in 2021, Clooney joked that “Batman & Robin” was so bad that it “destroyed” the superhero franchise. He added that he refused to let his wife even watch it because it’s so terrible, adding: “There are certain films I just go, ‘I want my wife to have some respect for me.’”

“The Boys in the Boat” opens in theaters Dec. 25 from MGM and Amazon. Watch Clooney’s full interview with Entertainment Tonight in the video below.
