‘Helldivers 2’ Players Are About To Quite Literally Erase Automatons From The Map

What happens when there is no more democracy left to spread? Helldivers 2 players are about to find that out on the frontier of the Automaton side of the galactic war. After crushing a sector in the last major order, now players are asked to take the lone remaining Automaton sector in the next three days. Once that happens, there will quite literally be zero Automatons left on the entire map. The war against the bots is won.

Welllllll, hold on a minute.

The point of the last major order was to capture a comms array to see what the Automatons are up to. And since we did that, we learned that the signal was being broadcast outside the current galactic map. That means one of two things.

• Either A) there is an Automaton or Cyborg force we don’t know about lurking outside known space
• Or B) Perhaps the Automatons are summoning an enemy we know is probably beyond our current map, the Illuminate, the aliens from the original game who are bound to join the fight eventually.

My money is on more Automatons or Cyborgs, as previous intel says that they are going to attempt a “Reclamation,” likely of the Cyborg homeworld of Cyberstan, which is currently occupied by Super Earth forces. As such, even if we wipe out the Automatons now, I would expect them to start storming back very soon in the north west corner of the map toward Cyberstan. I’d be amazed if there wasn’t a defense mission there in a week or two.

There may be a break between us wiping the Automatons and the large scale invasion where we go back to the Terminid side of the map. But even that is down to just four sectors now.

One more piece of data we did extract from the Automatons is that they are going to start using Aerial Gunships in battle, a new type of flying unit that joins the Terminid flying units, though likely at a bigger scale. But this week Helldivers were given access to the new Quasar Cannon and Heavy Machine gun which should help with that future fight.

So, even though Automatons are about to be purged from the map, we know there is more danger…outside the map, and that is likely to arrive very soon here. Stay tuned, as within a week or so, I think things are about to get very, very bad.
