HMD Global revived the Nokia brand for smartphones a few years back and, now, it’s using its own brand for a duo of new Android phones that will go on sale starting next month.
There are two lineups at play here. The first is the HMD Pulse, which includes the Pulse, Pulse+, and Pulse Pro. The base Pulse has a Unisoc T606 chip, 4GB of RAM, and a 6.56-inch display. The Pulse+ has double the RAM and a 50MP camera to the base model’s 13MP main shooter. Finally, the Pulse Pro has faster charging and also upgrades the front-facing camera to 50MP.
These are really simple, budget Android smartphone, as as such are priced at €139, €159, and €179, respectively, and they’ll be available in Europe.
HMD is touting the repairability of the Pulse on its website.
But, in the US, HMD is launching the “Vibe.” This device, which debuts in May, is a bit more compelling.
HMD Vibe has a Snapdragon 680 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 6.56-inch 90Hz display (just like the trio of Pulse phones), and a 13MP main rear camera. It also has a 4,000 mAh battery, down slightly from the 5,000 mAh of the Pulse lineup, but still with charging over USB-C.
It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 14 out of the box.
HMD will be selling Vibe in the States for $149 in May.
While it’s likely not going to impress, HMD Vibe looks reasonably solid for its price point, and we’ll be curious to see what HMD has in store next.
