Inter boss Inzaghi predicts ‘a battle until the end with Juventus and Milan’

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has admitted that his side are having a very good season so far, but he still expects a fight for the title with Juventus and AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri have admittedly been exceptional so far in 2023-24, having won 16 of their 20 games in the league with just one loss (against Sassuolo) and a goal difference of +39.

They are the top scorers in the league with 49 goals scored and they have only conceded 10 goals which makes them the best defence.

Juventus are currently five points behind but they have a game in hand to play, while the Rossoneri are nine points off their city rivals.

Inzaghi spoke on the sidelines of the ‘FIFA The BEST’ award for best coach won by Pep Guardiola and in which he was in the running together with Luciano Spalletti. His words were relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“It’s a great honour to be here with two great coaches like Guardiola and Spalletti. It’s an important evening, which it’s right to share with my boys from this year, from last year, with my technical staff, the great club I work for and all the Inter fans,” he said.

“The Supercoppa? We are the holders of the title, we will go to Riyadh for this new edition. We don’t know exactly what to expect, because we were used to it being a final between the winners of the league and those of the cup, but it is a new format that we will try to honour to the max.

“The league? We had 20 very good rounds and 51 points, but we have to continue like this. There are strong teams that want to win the title like Inter want it, so it will be a battle until the end with Juve and Milan.”

Given that there is almost half a season still to play, Milan are not ready to give up on the Scudetto bid just yet as unlikely as a comeback may seem at the moment, because there are three big reasons for hope.
