Joey Graziadei Cries During ‘Unprecedented Shocking First’ in Franchise History

“The Bachelor” returns with a new leading man! Joey Graziadei, the 28-year-old tennis player best known as the runner-up from Season 20 of “The Bachelorette,” is searching for “The One” in ABC’s new trailer for the show’s 28th season.

In the new footage, which aired during the “Bachelor in Paradise” finale, Graziadei attempts to find love — but his ending may not be a happy one.

Graziadei had his heart broken by bachelorette Charity Lawson on the finale of “The Bachelorette,” which aired over the summer. Just as Graziadei was about to propose, Lawson informed him that she had chosen another man to be her fiancé. Despite the heart-wrenching, tearful situation for both sides, there was a silver lining — it was soon announced afterward that Graziadei would be the star of the next season of “The Bachelor.”

“This is crazy,” Graziadei told host Jesse Palmer at the time. “I never expected this at all. I never knew this is what my life was turning into.”

As depicted in the trailer, a plethora of women go on a “worldwide adventure” in order to fall in love with the new lead.

“I know that Joey is my guy,” says one woman. “He’s literally the epitome of everything I’ve ever wanted in a man,” echoes another. Later in the trailer, one of the contestants says she’s falling in love — and he says, “I feel the same way” — while another seemingly quits.

“With Charity, I tried to get down on one knee and I was stopped. So my biggest fear is ‘The One’ walking out,” he says in the trailer, getting emotional. “I’m afraid of someone not accepting me for me.”

The ending is “unprecedented, shocking first in Bachelor history,” the voice-over says, as Graziadei tearfully says, “That was crazy. I didn’t expect that at all. I can’t think that’s happened before. I don’t even know what to say, I know I gave as much as I could. I’m sick of feeling like this. It feels wrong, but I don’t know what to do.”

Season 28 of “The Bachelor” will premiere Jan. 22 on ABC. Watch the full trailer below:
