As news of the SAG-AFTRA strike coming to an end started to spread, Kevin Bacon celebrated in a familiar way: dancing.
The 65-year-old actor took to Instagram on Thursday morning, sharing a video of him recreating his iconic dance from his breakthrough role in 1984’s Footloose.
‘Strike over!’ Bacon captioned the post, which featured him dancing to Kenny Loggins’ iconic title song.
The actor – who said he no longer eats acual bacon – was seen recreating one of his iconic dances from the movie in a barn, while wearing a pair of cowboy boots.
The post has amassed over 292K likes since it was posted earlier on Thursday, while many celebs expressed their joy in the comments.
Director Nicole Kassell, who directed Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick in the 2004 indie drama The Woodsman, stated, ‘I love this soooo much!! I will love this dance for ever and ever. Seminal to my childhood.’
Ethan Hawke, who stars alongside Bacon in the new Netflix movie Leave the World Behind, added, ‘This is amazing!!!!!’
The Paramount Movies Insagram account – which distributed the original Footloose and the 2011 remake – added a GIF of Bacon’s final dance in the classic.
Dax Shepard borrowed a line from Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas, stating, ‘The Grinch’s heart just grew another three times!!!!’
Actress and dancer Julianne Hough – who starred in the 2011 Footloose reboot with Kenny Wormald – stated, ‘Oh. My. Yessssssssssss.’
Director James Gunn, who directed Bacon as himself in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, commented with a raising hands emoji and a fire emoji.
The post comes after Bacon revealed in People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue that he no longer eats actual bacon.
‘I no longer eat goat and I no longer eat pig, because I have goats and I have pigs. My wife is like, “We can’t get any more animals, because you’re going to stop eating everything!”‘ he told People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.
The Footloose star – who also has three alpacas and three horses at home – went on to add that he ‘loves’ animals and also grows fresh produce on his farm so is able to enjoy fresh vegetables while he feels he is doing his bit for the environment.
‘I love animals, they are a joy to be around, and they’re very, very calming for me. But we also really love to go into the garden and get fresh herbs or tomatoes or basil or peppers or zucchini.
‘Taking something hot off the vine that feels warm and smells like it’s been created by all these natural forces of the sun and air and water and earth and dirt, and then putting it back into your body to sustain yourself…it’s a great lesson in terms of just how important it is to do our best to try to protect this boat that we’re all riding in.
‘I feel like if you’re always eating out or you’re always getting something to go, then you’re always giving your power over to the people that are going to prepare the food for you. I can’t do that my whole life. I need to have a little bit more control over what I’m putting in my body.’
