MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A Pee Dee paramedic reported missing has been found dead, while her car was located at a crime scene thousands of miles away.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that Phonesia Machado-Fore’s body was found in Dillon County Friday evening. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley also WMBF News that the body was found in the area of Jones Drive, near Lake View.
Grimsley added that an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Machado-Fore, a paramedic with Florence County EMS, was last seen on Tuesday at her Marion home on Wildwood Loop. She was reported missing to authorities on Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said information found throughout the investigation led authorities to the location where her body was found.
It was later discovered that the car belonging to Machado-Fore was found at the scene of a deadly shooting in New Mexico that claimed the life of a state police officer.
New Mexico State Police said early Saturday that 32-year-old Jarmey Smith, of Marion, was wanted for several charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities said Smith’s charges stem from the killing of 35-year-old state police officer Justin Hare on Interstate 40 early Friday.
Officials said Smith is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the NMSPD at 505-425-6771.
