More showers and storms on Sunday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Scattered showers and storms continue into Sunday morning.

Your First Alert: Sunday’s Severe Threat

Showers and storms will linger into Sunday morning with highs on Sunday reaching the 60s and 70s. More storms will be possible late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. Some storms on Sunday afternoon and evening could become strong to severe in our southern counties. However, clouds and the morning storms introduce some uncertainty on Sunday’s potential for severe weather. If things come together right, the risk does increase by afternoon into the evening again. The Storm Prediction Center has trimmed back its severe risk to mainly areas along and south of Interstate 80 on Sunday. If these storms take place, expect the risk for large hail, damaging wind, and an isolated tornado to be present.
