New gender-swapped ninja potentially leaked as Mortal Kombat 1 DLC

Mortal Kombat 1 just received its latest DLC character in Ermac earlier today, but it seems we may now know something else that may be coming down the road for the game too.

A future piece of DLC for MK1 has potentially leaked online, and interestingly, it’s for a new gender-swapped version of a klassic ninja.

Potential spoilers for future announcements for Mortal Kombat ahead.

Professional model and fashion designer Jiwon Ra put up a pretty curious post on her Instagram today claiming that she provided the face model capture for Harumi Hasashi in Mortal Kombat 1.

On top of that, her post states that she will be part of the game as a female version of Scorpion no less.

It doesn’t sound as though this Scorpion would be a full on playable character, however, considering her post says to “pick Harumi as your Kameo” as well as using the hashtag #Kameo.

If this is all legit, it likely points to a new Scorpion Kamo coming in MK1’s Kombat Pack 2, which hasn’t officially been revealed as of yet.

Going in this direction wouldn’t be all that surprising considering they already made Janet Cage a Kameo in Kombat Pack 1 as an alternate timeline gender-swap of Johnny Cage (who also appeared briefly in the story mode).

If you really want to get technical in this case, however, it’d more so be the title of Scorpion being gender-swapped from its usual holders since Harumi is already an established character.

In the original timeline, Harumi was the wife of Hanzo Hasashi, who was killed alongside the rest of the Shirai Ryu and inspired Scorpion down the road of revenge.

Mortal Kombat 1’s timeline has her as Harumi Shirai and married to Kuai Liang Scorpion as part of the Shirai Ryu and is alive as far as we know still.

For this Kameo, however, it seems they’d go with one of the other potential timelines introduced in MK1 where Hanzo was killed with Harumi taking on the mantle of Scorpion.

As to how her moves and appearance would be different to Hanzo / Kuai Liang, that remains to be seen, but her in-game artwork indicates she may focus more on swordplay.

It is important to take this revelation with a healthy grain of salt, as nothing has officially been confirmed by NetherRealm Studios or Warner Bros. yet — and there’s nothing else to fully back this up other than her post.

As of the time of reporting, Jiwon Ra’s post is still up on Instagram where she’s actively responding to fan comments. That even includes one questioning if she’s allowed to talk about this yet to which she replies “I am.”

She includes quite a few images and videos in the post as well, but none of it’s really new (or in some cases part of MK1) aside from maybe a shot of a motion / face capture setup.

If Harumi Scorpion is indeed coming to MK1 as DLC in the future, an official announcement is still likely multiple months away.

Kombat Pack 2 probably won’t be revealed until Final Kombat in June or later this Summer after the first set of DLC wraps with Takeda.
