NFL Draft 2024 start time and live updates from Detroit: Picks, order, streaming, where to watch, latest mock draft

For some, it doesn’t get much flashier than the custom Nike Louis Vuitton football cleats Marvin Harrison Jr. wore for Ohio State’s Sept. 24, 2022, game against Wisconsin.

Once he makes it to the NFL, Harrison, expected to be the first wide receiver selected in Thursday’s NFL Draft, said he plans on keeping things more professional with his attire. He’ll lean more into the traditional look, as did his father, Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr.

So don’t look for Louis V on his feet. Or, perhaps, the Apple Watch he wore on his wrist in that same game.

“I’ve been wearing black cleats pretty much every game the past two years,” the younger Harrison said. “I guess that’s a thing I get my dad. I would say that’s not probably not going to change.

“Once you step on the field, all of that (fashion) kind of has to go out the window. Just got to focus on football,” Marvin Jr. said. “I definitely took that from him.”

The elder Harrison, who played 13 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, was all about substance over flash. He wasn’t a big talker and never was confused with someone aiming for a career as a model.

Marvin Sr.’s fashion might be called understated. Marvin Jr., however, sports jewelry and wears a beanie over his hair where a New Balance logo (he recently signed an endorsement deal with the company) is in clear view. Marvin Jr. added that he planned out his suits for home games at Ohio State during the offseason, relying on nothing in particular for inspiration.

“Two different styles, generations, all play a factor,” Marvin Jr. said.

While the younger Harrison doesn’t rely on his father for clothing advice, he does lean on the elder Harrison in business conversations. Marvin Jr. said the world of NIL introduced him and other college athletes to the responsibilities that come with endorsements.

And once it’s time to play football, Marvin Jr. said he is looking forward to mimicking his father’s style.
