Nike Showcases AI-Designed Sneakers | Hypebeast

When it comes to exploring where footwear is headed, a subject addressed in a new museum exhibition that we recently spotlighted, there are many things to consider: technology, materials, style, distribution and so on. For Nike, it’s taken a new approach to dreaming up where its performance models are headed by leveraging artificial intelligence to design sneakers.

For its Olympic-themed showcase in Paris today, which notably featured the reveal of many new Air-based silhouettes, an additional display of AI-designed footwear was included. Utilizing data collected from athletes such as Victor Wembanyama, special shapes and styles were crafted to meet the specifications of their needs. Everything from aerodynamic, sleek shapes to high-standing silhouettes with sizable sole units were brought to life for the exhibition, all sporting “A.I.R” branding with black Swooshes serving contrast atop white uppers while many unique orange Air units support each shoe.

Unfortunately for anyone eager to get their hands on one of these wild concept sneakers, none of the designs are expected to make a retail debut at any point in the future. However, stay tuned for more news as Nike continues to find new ways to push the boundaries of footwear design.
