Police investigate triple shooting on I-95 in Philly – NBC10 Philadelphia

After a triple shooting on the highway, Pennsylvania State Police blocked a busy stretch of Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia for hours throughout the Wednesday morning commute.

Troopers closed the highway between the exits for the Betsy Ross Bridge (Exit 26) and Academy Road/Linden Ave. (Exit 32) after the shooting around 2:40 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Three people were hurt in the shooting near the Academy Road exit, police said.

One suffered a graze wound, another was being treated in stable condition and a third person was hospitalized in critical condition, state police said. The victims are all in their 20s — two are from Trenton, New Jersey, while the third is from Morrisville in Bucks County.

Police didn’t reveal what led to the shooting. However, they said they found a Chevrolet that “was observed to have several bullet holes on the passenger side of the vehicle.”

The roadway remained closed past 6 a.m. A Philadelphia police vehicle could be seen blocking a ramp to the highway off Milnor Street.

Drivers were being forced off onto surface streets to get past the crash scene.

Southbound drivers also experienced delays as people slowed down to see what was happening in the other direction.

State police finally announced that I-95 was reopen again around 9:30 a.m. They asked anyone with information on the shooting to call their Criminal Investigation Unit at 215-452-5280.
