BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — While some voting locations in Baltimore opened late, election officials say the polls should be running smoothly now.
Voters called in this morning saying multiple voting locations across Maryland are not opening on time.
Election officials with the Baltimore City Board of Elections said some of the delays were due to poll workers and judges thinking they did not have enough ballots, even when they did.
“I think the election judges and the board of elections got it up as quick as possible,” said Baltimore City Councilmember Odette Ramos.
‘If you had to leave the polls, because I think there were a few who opened late, please come back,” she added. “I want to encourage everyone to come out and vote and bring someone with you. It’s extremely important for our democracy and our city.”
Additionally, officials with the Baltimore City Board of Elections said they are trying to contact people who accidentally mailed in a sample ballot, instead of a proper mail-in ballot. If you are one of those people, call their office at 410-396-5550, or officials say you should be able to vote at your polling location to cast an official vote.
The polls will be open until 8 pm.
