Rangers pounce early in Game 7 vs. Astros; Diamondbacks force Game 7 vs. Phillies; scores, highlights, news, live tracker

On Monday, the all-Texas ALCS reaches its conclusion with a winner-take-all Game 7. The Texas Rangers tied the series against the Houston Astros with a 9-2 win Sunday at Minute Maid Park. The road team has won every game in the series.

For Game 7, the Astros sent Cristian Javier to the mound, and the Rangers countered with veteran Max Scherzer. It was fireworks from the get-go, as the score was 3-1 after just one inning.

First, Corey Seager hit a solo home run.

Then, Evan Carter walked, stole second and scored on an Adolis Garcia single.

Then, Garcia stole second and scored on a Mitch Garver single. That’s three runs before the second out of the game. A Jonah Heim single later, and Javier’s day on the mound was done before the end of the first inning.

In the Astros’ half of the inning, they got one run back with a Jose Altuve double, Yordan Alvarez intentional walk and Jose Abreu single.

In the third, Garcia kept his postseason power streak going with a solo home run that made it 4-1 Rangers.

Not that the Astros were going down without a fight, of course. Alex Bregman hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it 4-2.

With the Philadelphia Phillies leading the NLCS 3-2 heading into Game 6, it was last-chance time for the Diamondbacks. To keep their season alive, they needed to find a way to win at every opponent’s nightmare stadium, Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies were undefeated this postseason.

Well, the Diamondbacks jumped on Philly starter Aaron Nola early, with a pair of solo home runs, a walk and a double plating three runs before there was an out in the second inning.

The Phillies answered back in the bottom of the second, chipping into the deficit with an RBI single from Brandon Marsh that made it 3-1 Diamondbacks.

In the fifth, a single from Corbin Carroll and a triple from Ketel Marte got the run back for the Diamondbacks and ended Aaron Nola’s day at 4 1/3 innings, with six hits and four earned runs.

The D-backs plated another on singles from Perdomo and Marte in the seventh, making it 5-1 Diamondbacks.

The score held from there, and the Diamondbacks forced Game 7 on Tuesday in Philly.
