David Grann’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” is still on the bestseller lists following of Martin Scorsese’s film adaptation, which made history at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, where Lily Gladstone became the first Indigineous woman in the show’s 81-year history to win Best Actress in a Motion Picture

The film is based on David Grann’s 2017 non-fiction book, which is set in 1920s Oklahoma, depicting a series of murders in the Native American Osage Nation and the investigation into the string of brutal crimes by the FBI. The undercover investigative team — including a young J. Edgar Hoover and a Native American agent who infiltrated the region — ultimately exposed one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history.

Scorsese’s adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio premiered to an impressive nine-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The supporting cast includes Brendan Fraser and John Lithgow, in addition to a cameo from Scorsese. However, one of the most significant roles is played by breakout Gladstone, who portrays an Osage woman named Mollie Murkhart, whose sisters and other family members are killed one by one.

In her acceptance speech at the Globes, Gladstone noted that the recognition was a historic moment for the indigenous community, which has often been overlooked or marginalized by the entertainment industry. “This is for every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little native kid out there who has a dream and is seeing themselves represented,” Gladstone said.

As of this writing, Grann’s book is the most-sold book on Amazon, where it’s available on hardcover for $18.52 — or 47% off. You can also purchase an audiobook for free through Audible’s limited-time free trial.

Purchase “Killers of the Flower Moon” on Amazon and stream the film on Apple TV+ starting Jan. 12.
