Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera to offer a surprise popular with Sony Xperia flagships

Is everything about the Galaxy S24 already known? Maybe not. Samsung may still have a surprise for us on January 17, 2024, if we want to believe the latest statement from well-known leaker Ice Universe. According to his post on X (formerly Twitter) tonight the successor to the Galaxy S23 Ultra (available here on Amazon) will finally offer more than 4K recordings at 60 fps.

Specifically, the camera flagship from South Korea will also be able to record 4K120 videos, a feature that has long been standard in the action cam segment and is also popular on Sony Xperia flagships such as the Xperia 1 V. Most recently, Nubia also advertised a 4K120 option in the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship Nubia Z60 Ultra with all three camera sensors. It is currently not known whether Samsung will also activate the high-quality slow motion option for all focal lengths of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and whether there will be any time recording limits.

In any case, videographers will be more satisfied with the Galaxy S24 Ultra compared to its predecessor. On the Galaxy S23 Ultra it was not possible to switch between lenses while recording 4K60 video, which is also supposed to change in the new generation according to an earlier leak. 4K120 is not per se a new development in the smartphone segment – the OnePlus 9 Pro was already capable of this – but this function has been comparatively rare. If Samsung actually does enable this feature in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which has not yet been confirmed, it would certainly send a message to the rest of the industry.
