‘Squid Game’ Resurges in Netflix Top 10 as Competition Series Hits No. 1; Adam Sandler’s ‘Leo’ Sets Record for Biggest Animated Film Debut

“Squid Game: The Challenge” topped the Netflix Top 10 competition during the Nov. 20-26 viewing window, landing on the English TV List with 20.1 million views in its first five days of availability on the streamer — which led fans to revisit the original series pushing it back to the Non-English list at No. 6 with 1.6 million views.

Meanwhile on the film side, “Leo,” the animated film from Adam Sandler, debuted at the top of the English Films List with 34.6 million views in its first six days, making it the most viewed title this week and the biggest debut for a Netflix animated film. Sandler stars in the coming-of-age musical comedy as a lizard named Leo about the last year of elementary school as seen through the eyes of a class pet.

“The Crown” Season 6 continues to remain in the top half of the English-TV list, coming in at No. 2 this week with 8.8 million total views pushing the show’s total to 16.2 million views within its 11 days of availability. Netflix has split the royal drama’s final season into two parts, meaning this count is based on just the first four episodes of the season. The latter six episodes are expected to arrive on Dec. 14.

“All the Light We Cannot See” moved to fourth on the list with 3.3 million total views in its fourth week of the Top 10 chart, putting the limited series just ahead of Matt Rife’s “Natural Selection” special, which —despite ruffling feathers — previously opened at No. 2 on the Netflix Top 10 English TV list. This week, the hour-long special recorded 2.9 million views.

Season 1 of “Young Sheldon” also made the list for the first time after moving to the streaming service on Nov. 24. In its first three days of availability, the series raked in 2.1 million views and landed at No. 6. That’s about 400 thousand more views than “First Wives Club,” another Paramount title (which previously aired on BET), which scored the No. 8 spot on the chart. “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” debuted on the list at No. 7 with 2 million views.

Elsewhere on the chart is “Cocomelon” (3.4 million), “Escaping Twin Flames” (1.6 million) and “Mike Birbiglia: The Old Man and the Pool” (1.6 million).

See Netflix’s Top 10 lists for the week of Nov. 20-26 below, beginning with English-language series and followed by non-English-language TV shows, English-language movies and then non-English-language movies.
