Tennessee basketball vs. Florida tipoff moved due to Knoxville weather

Tennessee basketball will tip off against Florida earlier than scheduled due to winter weather in Knoxville, UT announced Monday.

No. 7 UT (12-4, 2-1 SEC) will face the Gators (11-5, 1-2) at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday on ESPN2, two hours earlier than the originally slated time at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.

The Gators arrived in Knoxville on Monday afternoon.

Tuesday’s game is the lone meeting between the Vols and Gators this season. Tennessee comes in with an 8-0 record at home this season and has won 11 straight at home dating back to last season.

When do Tennessee vs. Florida play Tuesday?

Tennessee and Florida is starting at 5 p.m. ET because of weather conditions potentially impacting travel, UT announced.

Knoxville received an uncommon volume of snowfall starting late Sunday and increasing throughout the day Monday. Temperatures are expected to plummet by Tuesday morning. National Weather Service Meteorologist Lyle Wilson told Knox News that residents should only travel when necessary, give themselves extra time to travel, bring necessary safety kits and equipment, and dress warm. The weather has forced school closures, including some canceling multiple days in advance.

How else has weather affected Tennessee basketball vs. Florida?

Parking will be affected by the weather in addition to the game time being moved.

UT announced the top of the G10 parking garage will be closed. Fans with a G10 pass can still park in the lower levels of the garage. The G5/G30 garage will be closed. Fans with passes for those lots can instead park in G3 or G4.
