Thousands of parade-goers expected to line streets of New Roads on Fat Tuesday

NEW ROADS, La. (WAFB) – Thousands of parade-goers are expected to line the streets of New Roads in the hours to come to celebrate Mardi Gras.

There will be two parades rolling through the city streets.

Law enforcement says for those planning to attend only one parade, you should park outside of the parade route and walk to your desired spot.

The Community Center of Pointe Coupee Parade parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Clay Young will serve as the Grand Marshal.

Then, the New Roads Lions Club Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 2 p.m.

The New Roads Police Department announced the parade route will close at 9:30 a.m. for preparations.

Officials confirmed the parade route will remain closed until the end of the second parade.
