Tragedy as family of five – including two children

A quiet suburban community in Oklahoma City is reeling after a family of five, including two children, were found dead with police confirming that they ‘all died violently’ on Monday.

All five victims had injuries consistent with homicide, said police Sgt. Gary Knight.

‘This wasn’t a gas leak situation or a fentanyl-type situation, these are five people who were killed,’ Knight said. ‘We’re talking about children being inside this home and being victims of this. It’s a very tragic, very sad situation.’

Knight said a man and woman were among those who were found dead, but he didn’t know the gender or ages of all the victims. The relationship between the victims also not been disclosed.

He said officers who arrived on the scene around 9:30am backed out of the home after determining all the victims were deceased and that investigators were obtaining a search warrant before they started combing through the scene for evidence.

Early on in the investigation, police confirmed that there was no threat to the public-at-large, indicating the incident was a murder suicide. The bodies were discovered by a 10-year-old boy, reports The Oklahoman.

The victims included two minors and one recent high school graduate, according to authorities

The school school district, Mustang Public Schools, confirmed in a statement that a sixth grade student at the local Meadow Brook Intermediate and a ninth grader at Mustang High School were among the dead.

A 2023 graduate from the same high school was also killed. A crisis team will be on scene at all schools in the district to help students through this difficult time.

‘We are shocked, and our hearts are broken; this tragedy simply defies understanding,’ superintendent Charles Bradley wrote in a statement to parents.

‘Nobody expected it, it was very shocking. You know, like I said, they were a great family,’ neighbor Brian Graham told KFOR.

They were good friends of ours. They would come down all the time and we kind of had hangouts together. We’re really going to miss them. We really wish this wouldn’t have happened,’ he added.
