Wendy’s offering 1-cent burgers for an entire week for National Burger Day

It’s not a steal, it’s a hamburglary.

Wallet-weary fast food fans have the chance to save big on burgers: In honor of National Burger Day on May 28, Wendy’s will be selling its iconic Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers for just 1 cent each next week.

For reference, that’s 20 cents less than the average cost of a burger in the US in 1960.

“Take a bite of a Wendy’s hamburger made with fresh, never frozen beef to celebrate National Hamburger Day the right way,” the company said in a statement announcing the promotion, which runs from May 28 to June 2, USA Today reported.

To score this steal of a deal, burger buffs simply have to buy another item and apply the digital bacon cheeseburger offer, which is available exclusively on the Wendy’s app and website.

This offer is only available during these six days and must be redeemed through the customer’s account on the Wendy’s app or website, Today reported.

Customers are also prohibited from combining multiple meal deals on a single order.

This promotion runs concurrently with Wendy’s English muffin deal, in which customers get a bacon or sausage English muffin with egg and cheese and small seasoned potatoes for just $3.

Wendy’s is just one of many chains trying to woo customers impacted by soaring fast food costs amid inflation.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s launched a $5 value menu to appease customers who were put off by their insane price hikes, which saw their McDouble triple in price over the last decade.

“Consumers continue to be even more discriminating with every dollar that they spend as they face elevated prices in their day-to-day spending, which is putting pressure on the industry,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski declared during the Golden Arches’ first-quarter earnings call.

“[I]t’s imperative that we continue to keep affordability at the forefront for our customers.”
