The televised portion of Monday’s draft featured six rounds with a total of 24 picks. These came after Night 1 took place on this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Raw general manager Adam Pearce was given the advantage over SmackDown GM Nick Aldis with the first pick in each round on Night 2.

The new rosters will become official on Monday, May 6, two days after the Backlash France premium live event.

Raw’s No. 1 pick was Imperium, bringing the tandem of Ludwig Kaiser and former record-setting Intercontinental Champion Gunther. The bruising heavyweight showed why he was the first pick of the Red Brand with a dominant performance against Xavier Woods of The New Day.

Gunther is the favorite to win this year’s King of the Ring tournament, so it’s clear that big things are in store for him on Raw.

Arguably the most interesting pick of Night 2 was Raw’s second-round selection Braun Strowman, who hasn’t been seen in WWE for over a year after undergoing neck surgery. Strowman made his return on Monday night to save Jey Uso from a beatdown:

The highlight of the third round was Drew McIntyre, who found another reason to be disgruntled as he expected to be drafted higher. McIntyre took aim at CM Punk, who surprisingly happened to be in the arena.

NXT was represented when Raw drafted former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov. “The Mad Dragon” dropped his title to Trick Williams on last week’s episode of WWE NXT, opening the door for him to bring his exciting style to the main roster.

Raw doubled up in the fifth round, drafting former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria. Interestingly, Valkyria defeated Becky Lynch to win the NXT title, and Lynch currently holds the Women’s World Championship. If the two of them meet again, Valkyria could add another championship to her resume.

The final round concluded with Raw bringing over The Final Testament from SmackDown. The faction led by Karrion Kross should have more of an opportunity on the Red Brand. Also, SmackDown made its first NXT pick of the night by selecting Blair Davenport.

There still remains a question of where former WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will land. Paul Heyman announced on Friday that The Tribal Chief was removing his name from the draft amid his hiatus, so it will be fun to see where he ends up when he makes his eventual return.
