One UI 6.1 takes even more care of your Samsung phone’s battery

While Samsung hasn’t announced the Galaxy S24 yet, many of its features and specifications have leaked over the past few months. The Galaxy S24 lineup is expected to debut next month with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 onboard, and it is rumored to come jam-packed with AI-powered features, and one such feature has leaked. It takes care of your phone’s battery health.

One UI 6.1 brings even more battery protection features to Samsung phones

According to a new leak from Tarun Vats, One UI 6.1 features more battery protection features. The Basic mode stops the charging at 100% and then resumes at 95%, while the Adapt mode charges the phone up to 80% and pauses until it’s time for you to wake up. This feature is seen on several other Android smartphones already. The Max mode stops charging the battery at 85%, which is usually considered to be good for the battery’s health.

There is a possibility of some of these battery protection features being powered by on-device AI that learns your usage behavior and acts accordingly. If these are the only battery protection features in One UI 6.1, it would only be missing a battery health percentage feature that is present on all iPhones. It shows the capacity of battery health remaining compared to when the device was new.

The Galaxy S24 will come equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S24+ will have a 4,900mAh battery. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will continue to use the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as its predecessors, the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. All three phones are expected to come powered by more power-efficient chips, so their battery life could be better.
