TJ Holmes complained that his journalism career was ‘upended’ in a video that he posted to his new TikTok account.
Holmes uploaded his very first video to the platform on Wednesday as he said he was ’embarrassingly behind’ in joining the social media trend.
He went on to ‘reintroduce’ himself to the internet as he said: ‘And it’s the career- the 25 plus year career in journalism that was upended about a year ago when some aspect of my personal life, including who I’m dating, became tabloid fodder.’
The former Good Morning America co-anchor then revealed that he experienced the ‘worst year of his life’ amid his romantic affair with Amy Robach that was revealed by Dailymail.com.
‘But now as I sit here before you, with some perspective, it was the best year of my life and one of the blessings of my life because I’m here with my first TikTok post, and I am the happiest, and healthiest and best version of myself,’ Holmes added.
He went on to credit Robach for helping him live life authentically as the pair have started to ‘navigate’ their life together.
Holmes and Robach broke headlines in November 2022 after their friendship has evolved into a full-blown romantic relationship off-screen.
The pair they had been locked in a passionate romance despite both being married to their respective spouses for the past 12 years.
According to insiders, T.J. and Amy’s friendship evolved in June, if not before, ‘when they were in London together filming the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee for ABC and staff were buzzing about the intimacy between them.’
They were later fired from their rolls at GMA in January 2023 after their scandal broke.
As the saga unfolded, Robach and Holmes filed for divorce from their spouses that they both were married to since 2010.
In an even deeper twist, their former spouses recently struck up an unlikely romance after being left by their respective partners as their affair was first exposed by The New York Post.
Andrew Shue, 56, and Marilee Fiegig, 45,were spotted for the first time together in early December as they packed up a car and headed off for the weekend in exclusive pictures by DailyMail.com.
The unlikely couple have reportedly been dating for around six months and bonded over the experience of seeing their marriages crumble with Holmes and Robach.
‘It turned into something else, and they’re connected over their values. It’s bigger than the affair now,’ a source said.
Fiebig, an attorney, reportedly settled her divorce with Holmes in October 2023, while former soccer star and actor Shue, best known for his role as Billy Campbell, finalized his split with Roach in March.
Holmes and Fiebig settled their divorce in December 2022, just weeks after news of his and Robach’s relationship went public.
Robach then finalized her divorce with Shue in March, according to Page Six.
Holmes, who has two children from his first marriage, shares one child with Fiebig.
Robach and Shue did not have any children together, but often praised their ‘blended family’ as Shue’s three sons were joined by Robach’s two daughter’s when they tied the knot in 2010.
Days after Fiegig and Shue were spotted together, Holmes broke his silence on the relationship.
He said he will ‘not be clapping back at headlines’ in an episode of their podcast, adding that he ‘doesn’t read headlines’ but will not be drawn into ‘back-and-forth games.’
‘I do not Google my name. I stay away from it,’ Holmes said, adding that certain news outlets have ‘agendas.’
‘We absolutely anticipated that this was going to happen,’ he said.
In a recent episode of the couples’ newest podcast, Holmes and Roach candidly chatted about drinking too much amid a stressful and tumultuous 2023.
They revealed that they have since decided to participate in Dry January as Holmes said that he’d ‘easily go through 18 drinks’ on a daily basis.
Robach also admitted that the amount of alcohol she consumed was appalling amid the stress emanating from the publicity affair, and personal and professional fallout thereafter.
‘I didn’t have a job to go to and I was away from a lot of friends and family,’ Robach said. ‘What did I do? I drank a lot. A lot more than I ever have. I don’t think I have ever gone a full day where I drink every single day and that was 2023 for me.’
Robach said that while she was consistently drinking, she wasn’t ‘getting wasted or drunk,’ but rather aiming to change her mood as she forged through a difficult timeframe in her life.
‘It was keeping a buzz going all day,’ she said, ‘or keeping a heightened state of mind during an anxious year.’
Holmes said facing unpleasant truths was an essential element to recognizing an issue that needs to be remedied.
